We are an industrial control and automation specialist mainly operating in the mining, oil & gas, power generation, and renewable energy industries. The Electrician will be responsible for the assembly, wiring, testing, fault-finding, and commissioning of electrical and control systems within a workshop environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of qualified tradespeople, technicians, and apprentices, the role supports the design and manufacture of automation and control equipment used in heavy industry sectors including oil & gas, coal mining, and broader natural resources operations.
The role requires a strong commitment to quality workmanship, electrical safety compliance, and adherence to Australian Standards, while contributing to efficient production workflows and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
1. Workshop Electrical Assembly & Wiring
Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and technical documentation
Assemble and wire control panels, MCCs, PLC systems, and industrial automation equipment
Install and terminate power and control wiring to specification and industry standards
Carry out point-to-point wiring checks and quality verification of assemblies
2. Testing, Fault Finding & Commissioning
Perform electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity, and functional testing
Diagnose and rectify electrical faults in control systems and equipment
Assist with in-house commissioning of OEM-built systems prior to dispatch
Support integration testing of PLCs, instrumentation, and automation systems
3. Compliance & Safety
Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and relevant electrical standards
Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures and risk management protocols
Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and toolbox meetings
Maintain safe isolation procedures and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) practices
4. Manufacturing & Production Support
Work collaboratively within production schedules and build timelines
Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail
Support continuous improvement initiatives within workshop processes
Assist in maintaining tools, equipment, and workshop cleanliness
5. Mentoring & Team Support
Provide guidance and technical support to apprentices and trade assistants
Assist in on-the-job training and skills development of junior team members
Foster a collaborative and supportive workshop environment
Other various duties or tasks as reasonably required by management.
Electrical Trade Qualification (Cert III Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent)
Current QLD Electrical Work Licence (Mechanic)
Current Driver’s Licence
Instrumentation Qualification (desirable)
Experience in industrial electrical assembly, preferably in OEM, automation, or manufacturing environments
Exposure to control systems, industrial wiring, and panel fabrication
Experience working in structured workshop production environments
Previous involvement in testing, fault-finding, and commissioning activities
Experience in mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors (highly regarded)
Experience working with or mentoring apprentices (desirable)
Competence with hand tools, electrical test equipment, and workshop machinery
Must have ability to distinguish between various colours/shades and fine motor skills to complete wiring work.
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
