Job Title: Heavy Vehicle Auto Electrician

Group: Prancer – Heavy Vehicle Division

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm

Wage:     $45-$60 per hour + Super (Based on Experience)

About the role:

·         Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems on heavy vehicles, trucks, and earthmoving equipment.

·         Conduct wiring, fault finding, and troubleshooting for hydraulic and electronic control systems.

·         Perform scheduled electrical maintenance and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

·         Collaborate with other technicians to deliver high-quality outcomes for all equipment.

·         Hands-on experience with heavy vehicles, trucks, or earthmoving equipment is essential.

·         Strong diagnostic skills in electrical systems and electronic control units.

·         Maintain fleet paper trail for servicing, maintenance, and repairs.

·         Attend fleet roadside breakdowns.

·         Maintenance of company vehicles and mechanical aids.

·         Identify and record deficiencies relating to products and services.

·         Ability to work independently in a workshop environment.


Requirements:

AUR30320 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or similar.

AUR31120 Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology also accepted.


Experience

Minimum three years of relevant and recent experience with heavy vehicles.

Advanced knowledge of automotive electrician methods, techniques, quality standards and compliance with ADR’s.

Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a variety of people.

Ability to work autonomously using a proactive approach to task resolution.

Ability to work well within a team environment.


What We’re Looking For

·         Proven experience as a Heavy Vehicle Auto Electrician, preferably working on trucks, trailers, or earthmoving equipment.

·         Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical, electronic, and control systems.

·         Experience with wiring repairs, lighting systems, battery systems, starter motors, alternators, and electronic braking systems.

·         Sound knowledge of heavy vehicle safety standards, workshop procedures, and ADR and customer compliance requirements.

·         Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

·         Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

·         Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced workshop environment.

·         A proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

·         Commitment to safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.



Reporting Structure

You will work closely alongside:

  • Workshop Foreman.

  • Warranty Coordinator.

  • Operations Manager.

  • General Manager.
