Trucksmart is seeking a talented Heavy Vehicle Auto Electrician / Technician to join our growing team in Beresfield, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to work with heavy vehicles and cutting-edge electrical systems in a dynamic automotive environment. You will be instrumental in maintaining and repairing the electrical and electronic systems that keep our fleet of heavy vehicles operating safely and efficiently. What you'll be doing

  1. Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults in heavy vehicles using advanced diagnostic equipment and testing tools

  2. Installing, maintaining, and servicing electrical systems including batteries, alternators, starters, wiring harnesses, and lighting systems

  3. Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicle electrical components

  4. Troubleshooting complex electrical issues on trucks, trailers, and heavy-duty vehicles

  5. Repairing and replacing faulty electrical components and systems to manufacturer specifications

  6. Conducting electrical safety checks and compliance testing on vehicles

  7. Maintaining detailed records of work completed and parts used

  8. Collaborating with other technicians and workshop staff to ensure efficient vehicle turnover

  9. Staying current with emerging technologies and electrical system innovations in the heavy vehicle industry

  10. Adhering to all health and safety regulations and workshop protocols


What we're looking for

  1. A recognised qualification in automotive electrical work or heavy vehicle electrical systems (apprenticeship completion or equivalent)

  2. Relevant electrical qualification accepted from any recognised training provider

  3. Proven experience working as an auto electrician or technician, preferably with heavy vehicles or commercial vehicles

  4. Strong knowledge of 12V and 24V electrical systems commonly found in trucks and trailers

  5. Proficiency in using electrical diagnostic equipment, multimeters, and testing tools

  6. Competence in reading wiring diagrams and electrical schematics

  7. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

  8. Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity

  9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  10. Valid driver's licence (preferred)

  11. Current First Aid certification (preferred)

  12. Knowledge of heavy vehicle safety standards and regulatory requirements (preferred)

  13. Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training

  14. Australian citizenship required for this position
