About the role

Join the maintenance team as an Underground Electrician, where you'll play a key role in maintaining and supporting the underground electrical infrastructure and fixed plant assets. Working as part of the maintenance team, you'll be responsible for preventative maintenance, electrical installations, and statutory testing to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the mine.

This role is ideal for a qualified electrician with underground mining experience who thrives in a dynamic and team-oriented environment. You'll work across a range of equipment, including production and development drill rigs, and be involved in high-voltage systems, communication networks, and tele-remote systems.   • Roster: 7/7, 12 hours per day (Day & Night shift)

  • Location: Peak Mine, Cobar NSW

Travel options

  • Residents enjoy a balanced roster and the opportunity to settle into the family-friendly township of Cobar. Relocation support and residential allowance provided

  • DIDO if you live within an 800km radius of the Mine site which includes a travel allowance

  • FIFO from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne

Key responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance & statutory testing on underground electrical equipment

  • Assist in developing safe work procedures and JSAs

  • Coordinate and carry out 1000V reticulation electrical installations

  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to apprentices

  • Ensure compliance with NSW workplace regulations and site requirements

  • Accurately document completed work orders

  • Work as a team to achieve production targets through reliable maintenance

  • Prioritise health and safety and follow safe work practices

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Must be a qualified Electrician

  • Practical experience in underground mining

  • Ability to perform electrical installations on systems up to 1000V AC

  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence

  • Current LVR-CPR certification

Desirable

  • NSW Electrical Workers License

  • Experience in repair & maintenance of drill rigs

  • High Voltage Switching Ticket

  • Working at Heights Certificate

  • Experience with installation & fault finding on communication reticulation systems

  • Sound knowledge of Tele-remote systems
