Pacific Meat Sales is a family-owned business operating for over 30 years. Specialising in high-quality meat sales to a domestic and export market. Our focus is on Pork and Beef, which are supplied through 5 different brands.

We are currently on the lookout for another Maintenance Electrician to join our team. We require someone who is a qualified A-Grade Electrician but has the skills and smarts to work collaboratively with the rest of the team in the maintenance of our plant and equipment. This role fits within a small team, reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Maintenance:

Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, conduits, fixtures, motors, and control systems.
Support production teams by minimising downtime through efficient fault finding
Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime.
Repair and refurbish all electrical and electronic systems used in food processing equipment
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs
Provide some breakdown maintenance for all plants in a meat processing factory that employs over 250 people
Assemble and test new food processing machinery
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase plant efficiency and reliability
Note that this is industrial work - NOT domestic, commercial or mining
Ability to prepare reports after carrying out investigations or maintenance of plant or equipment

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

Diagnose electrical problems using blueprints, schematics, and testing devices.
Repair or replace faulty components, such as wiring, switches, and relays.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all electrical work complies with national and local electrical codes and safety standards.
Implement and follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

Technical Skills:

Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and specifications.
Use electrical testing devices, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters, to ensure electrical systems are functioning correctly.

Collaboration:

Work with other team members, including engineers and maintenance staff, to ensure efficient and safe operation of electrical systems.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments regarding electrical system status and issues.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance and repair work.
Prepare reports on electrical system performance and maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completed an apprenticeship program or vocational training in electrical work.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience as an electrician in an industrial setting.
Experience with industrial automation systems is a plus.
Understanding of WHS and HACCP requirements in a food processing environment is desirable.
Additional certifications, such as OSHA safety training, are advantageous.
A Grade A License or equivalent
Provide technical product support during breakdowns, shutdowns and all preventative maintenance activities
A sound ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings
Experience with PLC’s and VSD’s based automation systems
Possesses mechanical aptitude
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and respond to breakdowns in an industrial environment
Able to work with minimal supervision
Must have full working rights

Skills:

Strong knowledge of electrical theory and industrial electrical systems.
Proficient in using electrical diagnostic tools and equipment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and organizational skills.

Working Conditions:

Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects.
Exposure to high voltage, confined spaces, and potentially hazardous materials.
May require working at heights, in noisy environments, and in varying weather conditions.
Availability for on-call duty and overtime as needed.
