Lithgow - Electrician

Southern Shorthaul Railroad is a privately-owned rail operator, providing services throughout New South Wales and Victoria. Our focus on customer service has helped forge our reputation for safety, quality and reliability.

Due to winning a new major long term contract we are now looking to expand out maintenance team to include an additional Electrician for works to be performed out of our Lithgow Workshops.

The duties of the roles will include but not limited to: 

• Assisting with maintenance tasks in accordance with SSR Policies and Procedures

• Maintaining and provisioning of Locomotives and Wagons for train operations by following SSR Procedures

• Performing fault repairs and failure rectifications 

• Undertaking maintenance tasks to validate the integrity of rolling stock and ensuring all operational systems are safe and effective

• Conducting themselves in a professional manner with a strong customer and safety focus

• Ensuring a commitment to established processes and management of risks with the objective of zero injuries

• Travel throughout NSW/VIC may be required

• Overnight(s) may be required

If you have not previously worked your trade within the rail industry, full training will be provided to adapt your current skills to the rail industry.

In pursuit of customer focused service delivery outcomes, this position may require rostering that may vary upon maintenance requirements, including some weekends and shift work.

The successful applicant must demonstrate the following key requirements:

• Prior trade experience preferred

• Relevant skills, qualifications, experience & competencies 

• A commitment to a safety culture, and a can-do customer focus

• Professionalism, integrity, reliability and a positive attitude

• Hold a current Drivers License

• Hold a current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one

• Ability to pass relevant Rail Medical if required
