Your role and responsibilities:
As a 1st Year Apprentice Auto Electrician, you will be responsible for repairs to the Transdev John Holland Bus fleet. We have an opportunity for our 2026 intake. Your work will support the public transport industry across bus Region 9 in Sydney’s iconic Eastern Suburbs. Your skills will support the connection between families, friends, and future generations. Help us deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable journeys.

Junior 1st year pay rate $19.70ph (includes industry allowance)
A monthly rostered day off (RDO)

About you:
Must have some proven hands-on automotive, electrical or mechanical experience including the use of related hand and power tools.
Must be able to work at any one of our 3 depots at Port Botany, Randwick or Waverley (close to Bondi Junction) based on operational requirements
Must have a current NSW drivers licence (Ps accepted) and be willing to upgrade to HR drivers licence if required.
Commitment to a 4-year apprenticeship opportunity including TAFE study at Wetherill Park
Computer literacy with the ability to record accurate maintenance information

Job description:
Assist qualified tradespeople to perform operations on machinery or equipment, which utilises complex electrical/electronic circuitry controls.
Work on complex control systems which involve combinations of electrical, electronic, mechanical or fluid power principles.
Work on, and diagnose faults in electrical and computer controlled systems, communications, vehicle monitoring/tracking, CCTV, ticketing and other similar vehicle equipment.
Operate a range of equipment and tools in order to undertake vehicle maintenance such as, diagnostic computers/tools, multimeters, load testing, lifting and materials handling and the like.
Ensure bus presentation meets vehicle presentation standards.
Identify, report and repair vehicle defects.
Hours of work:
6am-2.30pm (Monday to Friday)
Depot locations:
If offered the role you must be able to commence at any one of our 3 depots at Port Botany, Randwick or Waverley (close to Bondi Junction) based on operational requirements
Port Botany: Site and street parking available
Randwick: Site parking available and close to light rail stop
Waverley: 8 minute walk from Bondi Junction train station
Please note there will be a requirement to work at all 3 depots on a regular basis throughout the course of the 4-year apprenticeship.
TAFE study is held at Wetherill Park.
All successful applicants must complete a national police check and medical including drug and alcohol check. Must also supply checkable work references and work-rights in Australia such as a passport or birth certificate
