The Company An established and highly regarded large food manufacturer operating a high-volume production facility in Sydney’s Western Suburbs, NSW. The site operates a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment with advanced automated machinery, PLC-controlled systems, and strict food safety standards. The maintenance team plays a critical role in ensuring electrical reliability, minimising downtime, and maintaining the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment as the business continues to grow and optimise performance.
The Position Seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to work permanent night shift, providing hands-on electrical maintenance support across production, packaging, and site services.
This is a full-time role operating Monday to Friday, 10:00pm – 6:00am, and suits a self-motivated tradesperson who can work autonomously in a busy manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to electrical breakdowns to minimise production downtime
- Completing scheduled preventive electrical maintenance in line with CMMS plans
- Fault finding and troubleshooting across PLCs, motors, drives, sensors, and control systems
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and small projects
- Working collaboratively with production, mechanical, and maintenance teams
- Completing all maintenance documentation accurately in the CMMS
- Maintaining compliance with GMP, food safety, quality, and HSE requirements
Skills and Experience Essential:
- Trade qualification as a Licensed Electrician
- Proven maintenance experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, or similar high-speed production environments
- Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment (diagnostics and fault finding)
- Ability to work independently on night shift with minimal supervision
- Experience using CMMS systems such as SAP, MEX, Pronto, or similar
- Sound understanding of GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements
Desirable:
- Experience with automated production lines, packaging equipment, VSDs, motors, and instrumentation
- Exposure to continuous improvement, Lean, or reliability practices
- Forklift licence, Working at Heights, or Confined Space certification
