Nqpetro is a leading installation, maintenance, and service provider in the petroleum industry. We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a skilled and motivated Service Technician / Electrician to join our Cairns team.
In this mobile role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of fuel systems and associated electrical infrastructure across Far North Queensland. You’ll diagnose and repair equipment, conduct preventative maintenance, and respond to urgent service requests – keeping our clients' critical fuel facilities running safely and smoothly.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain fuel facilities including pumps, tanks, and control systems
Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
Respond promptly to service calls and emergency breakdowns
Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and manuals
Maintain accurate service records and documentation using our reporting system
Work safely in hazardous environments and ensure compliance with all safety protocols
Collaborate with team members and provide excellent customer service to clients
Qualified Electrician with a valid Electrical Licence
Strong mechanical aptitude – this role is not a typical “electrical-only” position.
You’ll often draw on your mechanical knowledge to identify and fix non-electrical issues such as pump, hose, or other faults within complex fuel systems.
3–5 years’ experience as a Service Technician / Electrician in industrial or commercial settings (fuel systems experience highly regarded)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Commitment to safety with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks
