Rail Grinding Electrician

Due to continued growth and operational success, an exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Electrician to join their Western Australian operations team.

Role Tasks & Duties
The role includes, but is not limited to:
  • Maintaining, repairing, fault-finding, and troubleshooting specialised rail grinding machinery and equipment.
  • Conducting preventative and corrective maintenance activities to maximise machine reliability and operational performance.
  • Diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults on heavy mobile plant and rail maintenance equipment.
  • Supporting the operation of rail grinding machines during maintenance and production activities.
  • Participating in machine inspections and identifying opportunities for reliability improvements.
  • Completing maintenance documentation and reporting requirements accurately and efficiently.
  • Working collaboratively within a small, close-knit rail grinding crew to achieve operational objectives.
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and rail industry standards.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, machine performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Supporting the delivery of projects while exceeding customer expectations and operational requirements.
Required Skills, Experience and Competencies
  • Trade Qualified Electrician (Essential).
  • Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of preventative maintenance principles.
  • Experience testing, fault-finding, diagnosing, and repairing heavy vehicles, mobile equipment, or industrial machinery.
  • Previous experience within rail, mining, heavy industry, construction, or similar environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and implement quality improvements.
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team environment while also operating autonomously when required.
  • Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence (Essential).
  • Truck Licence highly regarded.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work within a FIFO environment.
Accountability & Authority
The successful candidate will be accountable for:
  • Maintaining specialised rail grinding equipment in a safe and reliable operating condition.
  • Completing maintenance activities in accordance with company standards and operational requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with all workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Identifying equipment defects and implementing effective repair solutions.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting.
  • Contributing positively to team culture, safety performance, and operational excellence.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance and operational activities.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be willing to work a FIFO 8:6 roster with predominantly night shift operations.
  • Will be expected to undergo a Rail CAT 3 Pre-Employment Medical, including Laboratory Drug & Alcohol Screening.
  • Will be required to complete an Australian National Police Check.
  • Must possess full-time unrestricted Australian working rights.
  • Must be willing to travel and work in remote locations as operationally required.
  • The business is subject to Public Health Orders and site-specific requirements which may change from time to time.
