Herrenknecht is a world-leading supplier of mechanized tunnelling machines and associated equipment for all round tunnelling solutions. Herrenknecht Australia, a subsidiary of the global organization, is comprised of a small team offering site support to active local tunnelling projects before, during and after TBM excavation. In-house engineering capabilities allow us to work with tunnelling contractors to find solutions to unique and challenging problems related to tunnel construction.
We are currently seeking 3 Electricians & 2 Trades Assistants (with electrical experience) to join our Australian Team based in Newcastle, NSW.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, The Electrician/s plays a significant role in the refurbishment of Tunnel Boring Machines back up system.
Your role includes re-installation or replacing wiring and other electrical components (MCCs, SDBs, transformers, communication network, fire suppression system), troubleshooting electrical issues arising during testing, and communicating with team members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
These may vary depending on the scope of the role, but they often include:
Understanding and applying blueprints and technical diagrams
Participating in refurbishment of MCCs, sub-distributions and distribution boxes, including pre-testing and troubleshooting
Power and control cables testing
Cables routing, wiring, termination, and testing
Using various devices, including ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners and cable testers, as well as hand and power tools
Apply technical trade skills to ensure plant reliability and availability
Adhering to state and local building regulations
Working collaboratively with electricians, PLC electricians, and other team members to support project activities
The Trades Assistants will support the Electricians by performing tasks that are within their level of knowledge, skills, and capabilities
Skills & Qualifications:
Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (or equivalent)
Electricians’ licence
Demonstrated experience in fixed or mobile plant maintenance environment
High Voltage Experience (Desirable but not essential)
High Risk Work licence / training (WAH, EWP) Desirable but not essential
Good communication and proactivity
Strong understanding of wiring, circuits and other electrical components
Ability to perform electrical tests, read results, diagnose and repair electrical problems
Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Effective time management
Strong work ethic
Understanding of local and national codes, regulations and safety procedures
Ability to read blueprints and technical documents
Trade Assistant - Trade Certificate in Electrical discipline
Drivers licence
