The Senior High Voltage (HV) Engineer will join Enscope’s growing Power and Energy team. This role will provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of thermal generation, renewable energy and industrial power projects.

The person will play a key role in the delivery of electrical design, HV system studies, substation infrastructure projects, grid connection assessments and owner's engineering services. You will work closely with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions from concept through to commissioning.

About the Role:
Ideally you will have at least 10 years’ relevant high voltage engineering experience. We are looking for someone who has experience working through all cycles of a project from design into commissioning and handover. The right candidate will have experience leading and mentoring junior engineers. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the design and delivery of high voltage electrical engineering projects

  • Perform and review power system studies, including:

    • Load flow analysis

    • Short circuit studies

    • Protection coordination studies

    • Arc flash assessments

    • Dynamic and transient stability studies

    • Harmonic analysis

  • Support grid connection studies and compliance assessments for renewable energy and industrial projects.

  • Earthing and Lightning Protection Assessment and Design

  • Develop and review technical specifications, design reports, calculations and engineering documentation.

  • Ensure familiarity with relevant Australian and International Standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, AS 2650, AS 61869 series, AS 62271 series, IEEE standards, NEM and WEM grid codes)

  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers.

  • Attend internal and external meetings to support project management and provide technical discipline leadership

  • Participate in client engagement, proposal development and business development activities.

  • Support project execution through construction, commissioning and operational phases.


Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant high voltage engineering experience.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering HV power system, transmission and substation projects.

  • Strong understanding of Australian electrical standards and utility requirements.

  • Experience with power system modelling software such as PowerFactory, ETAP, or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of grid connection processes and renewable energy integration is highly regarded.

  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

  • Availability to travel interstate and to sites when needed (rosters are negotiated on a case by case basis)

  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility to obtain chartership.

  • Experience working within consulting engineering environments.

  • Exposure to thermal generation (gas engines and turbines), renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), hydrogen or industrial power projects.

  • Project management or project engineering experience will be highly advantageous


Enscope works in all States of Australia so candidates must be willing to travel to our construction sites and client offices, both in Queensland and interstate to represent the Company on occasion. Working from our client's offices in secondee type roles can also be required from time to time.
