Electrical Engineer

About the Role

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Tomago operations. Predominately the work performed by the ARA electrical engineering team is related to low voltage power and control, along with switchboard design in compliance with AS61439.

Our engineering branch works are diverse, servicing design components associated with our manufacturing and installation divisions at ARA, along with studies, concept designs, and detailed designs for various clients.

Job Requirements:

This role requires a person with proven ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise workloads in order to meet deadlines.  You will need to display exceptional organisational, self-management and multi-tasking skills in order to successfully carry out concurrent jobs.

Although work will mainly be performed at our Tomago office, you may be required to attend site from time to time as required to perform the design works.

The successful applicant will have as a minimum:

• An Electrical Engineering Advanced Diploma/ Degree qualification

• Demonstrated detailed design experience with electrical switchgear and control systems

• Attention to detail

• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and electrical design software/tools including PowerCad5 and PTW

• Good understanding of AS/NZS3000, AS/NZS3008, and ideally AS5368

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Proven problem-solving skills

The following experience and skills will be highly regarded:

• Prior experience designing switchboards and motor control centres

• A working knowledge of AS/NZS 61439

• Experience working on brownfields electrical engineering projects

• Experience in report writing

• Experience using AutoCad
