About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership across electrical power and control systems within major engineering projects.

You will support project teams and clients by solving complex technical challenges, providing expert guidance and delivering practical engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical leadership and advice to project teams and clients

  • Oversee planning and delivery of electrical engineering scopes across projects

  • Act as a technical authority across electrical power and control systems

  • Mentor engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution

  • Identify and manage technical risks throughout project delivery

  • Support proposal development, cost estimation and technical solutions

  • Build strong client relationships and identify new opportunities

  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and systems

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent)

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a Principal Electrical Engineer role

  • Extensive experience delivering electrical engineering solutions within industrial or infrastructure projects

  • Experience working with High Voltage (HV) and either Medium Voltage (MV) or Low Voltage (LV) systems

  • Experience delivering electrical power and control systems within complex project environments

  • Experience with LV/MV power system design and modelling using ETAP or PowerCad

  • Experience performing electrical system calculations and studies

  • Experience with electrical protection and coordination

  • Experience designing industrial control system hardware

  • Experience with industrial communications

  • Experience with FAT and SAT testing and commissioning

  • Strong technical report writing capability

  • Experience working with industrial vendor technologies such as Rockwell / Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric or Siemens

  • A proactive and self-motivated working style

  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent engineering outcomes

  • An innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

Desirable:

  • RPEQ or CPEng certification

  • Experience with HV power system studies

  • Arc flash analysis

  • Harmonic analysis

  • Earthing system design
