Senior Electrical Engineer

Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is constructing the Eva Copper Mine in Cloncurry, QLD with first production targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.

Position Overview:
Our CSA Mine in Cobar has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our fixed plant team. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of electrical engineers and technicians, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all electrical systems at the mine. Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.

• Oversee the design, installation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical systems at the mine.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, standards, and company policies.

• Develop and implement electrical maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.

• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for electrical systems and processes.

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with mining operations.

• Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and safety of electrical systems.

• Manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively to meet project and operational goals.

• Provide technical guidance and support to the team, ensuring the highest standards of workmanship and safety.

About You:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• Previous experience in electrical engineering within the mining industry, with a strong focus on underground operations.

• Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Australian mining regulations and safety standards.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and lead by example.

• Experience with PLC/SCADA, OT Network systems, VSDs, high-voltage equipment, and underground power distribution systems.

Conditions:
This position is offered on a residential or drive in drive out (DIDO) or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Sydney or Brisbane with flexible rosters depending on residential or FIFO. If residential is the preferred commute option relocation costs and a housing subsidy will be provided to the successful candidate to assist in relocating to Cobar. Candidates interested in the DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals at the mine camp.
