Australian Portable Camps is a leading Australian provider of innovative building solutions aimed to meet specific needs for mining, construction and oil & gas projects.
We are seeking an experienced and skilled electrical engineer to join our team in designing, manufacturing and installing temporary remote facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design and installation package for the electrical infrastructure of these facilities, including power generation, mains power connections and site wide distribution. The role requires the candidate to be involved in the entire process from initial design to final installation and commissioning. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of Australian standards, and experience in electrical design on large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpreting a scope of work and developing a comprehensive understanding of the electrical aspects of a project
Electrical design and calculations in low voltage power generation and distribution
Electrical compliance with Australian standards and regulations
Work collaboratively with other engineers, trades and contractors to ensure the timely and efficient completion of projects
Manage and oversee the installation and commissioning of the facilities
Provide technical support and guidance to the on-site team as needed
Present design documentation for client review and scrutiny
Create As-built drawings and compiling ongoing project documentation
Support the onsite construction team on a fly-in-fly-out basis for the project duration
Conduct site visits as required to assess project progress and provide input for improvements
Prepare and compile quality assurance documentation and project handover documentation
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
5+ years of experience in designing and managing electrical infrastructure installation
Experience and knowledge of Australian Standards and electrical regulations
Experience in remote mining facilities is a bonus
Competent computer skills in AutoCAD design software (Other electrical software skills advantageous)
Experience in creating and interpreting technical drawings, calculations and reports
Demonstrated effective project management and communication skills
Extensive knowledge of construction and electrical quality systems
Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively with others and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Willing to work on a fly in fly out (FIFO) basis for some periods of time
